AN-2 & FSX-Steam Edition Issue

Post by SpaceHippy1975 » 28 Feb 2015, 21:56

Hi All,

I purchased the superb Antonov AN-2 Colt not long after it was released & used it with no issues for a long time running in the older FSX + Acceleration, but I purchased FSX-SE from Steam for $5 over Christmas & have just recently decided to give the Steam version a go.
I've been really happy with the results & have gotten quite a few pre-Steam aircraft to work really well, this includes the Sibwings Bird Dog + Amphibian add-on.

Every time I attempt to load a flight with the An-2, FSX-SE crashes to desktop. I have ensured that it is installed to the right location but this error message crops up when FSX-SE crashes;

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: fsx.exe
Application Version: 10.0.62608.0
Application Timestamp: 54abe5b4
Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.18409
Fault Module Timestamp: 53159a86
Exception Code: e06d7363
Exception Offset: 0000c42d
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 2057

Has anyone had this issue & would be able to help or make any suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Keith.

I do not use FSX:SE but it can be the following:
1) the license may not be active. Try to activate your An-2 via the usual method, if this is not working maybe try to
2) The swservice.dll of the An-2 is not compatible with FSX:SE. In this case you need to wait since the .dll is hardcoded and only the developer has the possibility to edit/change something.
3) The swservice.dll is not initialized within FSX:SE. Check that it is included in the (correct) dll.xml on your system.
4) Maybe this hint helps you.
5) Anything else I do not remember but which may come to my mind.

Try this. Hopefully it helps, otherwise I have no clue :(
However I checked that page and the An-2 is listed as working.
regards Kevin

Hi Springbok,

Thanks for the suggestions, I have verified that the license has been activated ok.

I have dealt with dll.xml files in the past but I am not too sure what I have to type to locate the correct location!

Cheers,

Keith.

What I meant with correct dll.xml file location is that Microsoft changed the "well-known" place for such application-depending files from XP to Vista/W7 to a quite unusual and hidden place. Instead of rewriting here everythink I just give you the link to the PMDG website who did a really good article about the dll.xml: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/ ... oting.aspx

1. Install simcomnnect
2. Probably "compatible mode" is on for FSX. Make sure your settings look like this screeh shot

Always the problem...

It was ok pour "compatibilty mode"

My files :

In fsx-se.cfg :

SibWings\Service\swservice.dll.nlzoettkibzwibkqhtwizbbulbbeiuqtuzkqaerb=1

In dll.xml

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>SibWings service module</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>SibWings\Service\swservice.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

A new vesion to be loaded directly comptaible with FSX-SE ?
