Antonov An-2 Flying guide

Post by metzgergva » 08 Jun 2013, 12:12

During the development of the flight dynamics, I have collected important information on how to fly an An-2 from an An-2 pilot living in Switzerland. In the attached "flying guide" I share this information with you, so that you can fly her as real and with care!
On the last page I have included a table with US-metric conversions for a quick look up.

Thank you very much for putting this together and uploading for us. This plane requires a complete rethink for me, which is cool. Thanks to all the team for doing it. €16 is a steal for this. In terms of simulation immersion, which is an all-encompassing parameter to me, this blows any recent biplane model released well and truly out if the water.

Thank you to all of you for your encouraging feedback. If you have any questions on how to fly her, just let me know. Same for if you would like a specific subject to be added to the guide.
Happy flying!

Hello and thank you for this guide.
I have a question about take-off and climb power settings. It is about differences between the settings in your guide and those in the manual.
For take off in the manual it states without flaps 9 / 2100 and in your guide it's 12 / 2100
For climb in the manual 9 / 2050 and in the guide 11 / 2000

After testing both settings climbing at 9/ 2050 for 140 km/h takes ages so i prefer the guide settings but what disturbs me is the sticker below the left window in the cockpit witch reads "max continuous 9 / 2100"
Can you confirm what is correct? i guess that as long as temps are in the green i can take-off and climb at the guide's settings.

thank you :)

We had different information and as said people today fly the plane differently depending on their use/load. The data in the guide are from the aircraft manual, and I can say that those work fine and are applied by the An-2 I have access to.

Thank you very much for the guide. Is everything still valid with the updated FDE?

Sure, the guide will not change by matching a few things better ;-)
