Fuel Select Valve problem

Post by Dieter » 10 Jul 2010, 14:04

This plane is nearly excellent now, thank you Sib Wing Team for all the effort that was made in the past!!!

I don't know, if this was already reported:

Fuel Selector Valve in position MAIN TANK should allow fuel flow from the left tank and in position AUX Tank from the right tank.
(Is that correct?)

Fact is that fuel is taken contrariwise i.e.,
position "MAIN" empties right tank, "AUX" empties left tank.
Did somebody else has this problem?

P.S.
My opinion is that an objective indication of technical problems is not a moaning of whiners, but kind of
help for the software developers.

Greetings
Dieter

To be honest I can't remember what position the lever used to be in for each respective tank. I have set up FSUIPC for a joystick hat switch to switch my tanks, and the flight I just did the Main tank is indeed on the left wing, so the AUX tank is on the right wing. When I flick my hat switch on the joystick, the fuel is taken from the correct tanks. ie. With the red lever in "Main" position, the fuel comes from the left tank. And obviously in the AUX position, it comes from the right tank.

Well, try following, takes less than a minute:
fill the right tank with just 0.1 % fuel, switch to MAIN TANK, start engine and you will obbserve, that the engine shuts down after a short while, because of an empty tank.
That means, selecting MAIN TANK will empty the right tank instead of the left one.

I don't doubt you for a minute Dieter, I was saying that mine is no longer set up as default. I purposely set mine up so when the switch is in one position ie. the main tank position, the fuel is taken from the LEFT tank. When the switch is in the other position the fuel is taken from the RIGHT tank.

In FSUIPC, you set switches/buttons/axis as you want, it has selections for various tank configurations. "main left tank", "main right tank", "left tank", "right tank", "aux left tank", etc. etc. etc. so you just tell it where to take the fuel from :)

Ok Tigerclaw, now I got you and I understood what you where doing to handle this problem your way.

We all are more than happy that she flies now, but nevertheless I expect Sib Wings to resolve this error in the next technical patch.
This should be easy for the developer.

I compare this error with the drawing of the stick backwards during cruise and the plane lowers the nose down.

Hi Dieter!

Try this small change it's only a "-", in your "aircraft cfg." (remember to backup), and see if it helps.
(hope it's OK with SW-lab)

[fuel]
LeftMain = -0.50, -3.5, 2.65, 18, 0.0
RightMain = -0.50, 3.5, 2.65, 18, 0.0

Change from default above to this below

LeftMain = -0.50, 3.5, 2.65, 18, 0.0
RightMain = -0.50, -3.5, 2.65, 18, 0.0

Sorry to say but that changes the position of the tank which then results into wrong roll effect from imbalance. The issue is the tank selector valve coding not the tank position. I guess it will be adressed in another fix.
Happy flying!

The "roll effect from imbalance", fits on my system with the small change, when left "wing" (indicator) is empty, the "Bird" turn STB. :?:
(But I can see, that there seems, to be something wrong with the weight, (on ground) when empty left tank then the the "Bird" sink to the wrong side, (at least with the changes))

Hallo Alexander,

thanks for this info.
I'm glad that even some of the "less important" technical errors are noted by the Sib Wing Team for another fix.
I think the most stressful work is done!
