D-EREK repaint

Post by rpiereck » 04 Feb 2007, 19:17

This is my third try at making this repaint, and the one I am most satisfied with. So satisfied with it that I am willing to post it here for preview. The hardest thing for me was finding a font that closely matched the ones on the aircraft as what distinguishes this bird from others is the large UAX and the D-EREK registration. I got very close to the real stuff, close enough to call it good.

I hoped to have it finished before the end of this week, but unfortunately my boss is sending me on a two week business trip, so you guys will have to wait for the final product. Enjoy D-EREK...

First the real aircraft:

I finally finished all details on the repaint of D-EREK, and I will upload the file to Alex tonight. Differences between the version above and the final version are: removed Swedish writing on wings, elevator and rudder; added German writing on wings; added serial number on rudder; and added IAC (International Aerobatic Club) sticker on left side of fuselage. The IAC logo was the only one I could find on the net, I'd rather not add the others than add an ugly looking impression of them. I tried emailing the company that is selling the real D-EREK to ask for better pictures but I never got any answer. Well, here is the final SAAB 91B-2 Safir D-EREK:

Could anyone send me the texture-file for the yellow main wheels? They look so nice, but the download only contains the wings and fuselage textures.
Greetings from the Ruhrgebiet, Germany
