Repaint of Safir D G-HRLK preview

Post by Jure » 07 Sep 2006, 19:55

Hi Safir pilots,

I'm painting the G-HRLK Safir, should be finished in a few days. Took me a looong time to align the blacks&reds&whites on the nose! :)

Still some things to finish, but it should be done in a few days.

Here's a preview...

Regards,
Jure

Thanks for the comment Andrey :)

The rivets will be toned down, I have lots of sandpaper  and I will remove the tank thingie

I still have to find a few things in the paintkit, you guys have really used all the available space and sometimes it's not that easy to find where to splash a bit of paint for some small sticky thing on the aircraft. Like the beacon on the top of the vertical stabilizer, for example.

Great work! :D

Of course it would be even better with the original Dutch markings and registrations. :P
Like this one I photographed at an airshow in July :

Looks like a few of the former Dutch trainers went to Britain after they were retired. Nice to see!

P.s. Looks like my post above (With photo's) was not made with my registered name here.

Thanks for the kind words... :)

...and the pictures! I think I can do all three Safirs and put them into one package. I'm practically done with the G-HRLK, found all bits and pieces, so the other two shouldn't be too big a project. :D

Where should I send the repaint(s)? I usually use the AVSIM library...

Do anyone know why they used a blue coulor in that "camo scheme"...
It looks a bit strange or "odd" I think....

N91SB was painted in the UK by someone who claimed it to be a 100% realistic paint scheme from the Swedish Air Force.I saw it back in 1983 and it looked a bit odd in a glossy camouflage scheme. I belive it was sold on an auction in the spring 1983. I met the guy who bought it at a Safir meeting in Linköping in 1983 and he persuaded SAAB to dismount the aircraft, put it in a transport crate and send it to the US.
