Re: orange livery

But with a very cheeky wink in Andrey's direction... and being on the B-Team...

He's right, it won't be long before there is a third party orange paint with the tail number N90671. Ooops! Did I really just post this? Shame on me!

Re: ZK-NAM Addinional info wanted

Andrey, I don't know if you noticed, but there's a slip in the bump maps on the Bird dog's tyres. If you look at one of the screenshots, you can see a line of rivets and a panel line across the tyre.

The airliners net photo makes it look black underneath fuse and wing.

Re: Pitts Special!

Both, both, both please... pretty please... uncle  I have been well satisfied by Sibwings model quality so far. Despite my moanings about her looks, I have wanted the Safir since the FS9 version was announced - but FSX was on by PC just days later. The only caveat I have is seeing developers a...

Re: Pitts Special!

Andrey,

Keep going with the Pitts - The Icarus one has too many failings right now. Despite three skins, I am not happy and eagerly await your Pitts. With spec, alpha channels, dxt5, mapped textures for all surfaces (rather than colouring the model direct)...

Re: Pitts Special!

Oh, and DON'T forget the spec textures! There are plenty of metallics, flip-flop, candy-flake, chromalusion paints out there. Also remember to map chrome parts on different sheets to gloss paint parts because 3DS can ID each bit as either metal, chrome, paint etc... and each respective surface looks...

Re: On specular shine

I bemoaned the lack of spec textures too. Even if you, the modeller, does not "use" a specular paint sheet, you really should activate the spec function in the 3DS Max (or GMax) export. If you developers can't, won't or don't know how to use the spec, simply create a single 512 square texture sheet,...

Now let it not be said that I am all mouth. When I say I mean to get pin-sharp pinstripes, I mean it. Here's where my version of D-EBED is: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/vintage%20and%20veteran/sharpness2.jpg The uneven yellow line is because I still have to find the polys and get the ...

Re: Painting

PS I just noticed your comment about me showing you my 3D models - I am not a modeller, I leave that to the experts. I am just a painter ;) and I only make paintkits and paint planes... I'd love to learn modelling, because as an aircraft engineer, I know how planes are built and how they fly. But fo...

[Before you start to get the very wrong impression - I am trying to help and understand here] I was going to write "Bad logic, even if it is workable" - but I also have to be fair and say there are more ways to skin a cat and I would have personally chosen a less complicated texture sheet layout :w...

I really really love it, when you 3D modellers do this... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/CBris/vintage%20and%20veteran/NR8.jpg I created a grid 10 pixels by 10 pixels to find the boudaries between parts on the texture sheet. Just look at the "mess" you now leave for the painter. A 100 ...

Bump...

Anyone else find the transparencies too shiny?

I find the reflections on the insides too bright too. Can they be made a bit more transparent? The reflection of the pilot is too distracting for daytime flight to say the least.
